Our Riga recommendations

We are so excited for you to join us in Riga to celebrate our long-anticipated nupitals. Riga is steeped in history, rich in culture and home to a buzzing culinary scene. No, this isn’t Lonely Planet; it’s just your resident Latvian-American gushing yet again about a place very near and dear to her heart.

Latvia is a special place for us both. It represents one of the first things that brought us together - dual nationalities, competing identities, hearts split down the middle. We have spent autumn days watching the leaves turn in Sigulda; winter afternoons sipping Gluhwein and wandering Vecrīga’s Christmas market; summer evenings watching the sun set at Saulkrasti’s beach. It is our sanctuary, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We’ve put together a rough guide to inspire you during your stay in Riga, however long that may be. These are some of our favourite places to eat, drink, and explore. Plus some places to learn about Latvian history because, you know, we’re nerds.

We are so grateful that you are willing to brave the budget airline journeys - and transatlantic crossings - to celebrate our love.
